July is almost here, but don’t forget about the rest of June! Did you know the month of June has the most daylight hours of the year? So come enjoy the end of those June rays and take advantage of the sunlight at Casa Condominiums.

This June has been a great one for Casa on the Beach, as we were recently awarded the Commercial Garden of the Month by the Port Aransas Garden Club. Jan, our new landscape artist, has made some astounding improvements to the foliage in the pool courtyard area, as well as around our entire complex. Among the various flora located at Casa, you can find dazzling hibiscus flowers, bright canna lillies, and lovely roses. Guests of all ages enjoy swimming under the shady palms, or even taking some quick Instagram-worthy snaps of the scenery Jan has created. Aside from the rain brought along by our pal Tropical Storm Bill, June has provided some fantastic sunlight that the plants are really soaking up!

June is also a time when many wedding bells can be heard up and down the beach! Beach weddings are becoming a popular way to tie the knot. Casa Condominiums is a wonderful location for your own special beach wedding! If you are thinking of getting married at the beach, we can recommend a variety of local businesses that can assist you in making your special day all that you have dreamed of. We also have a small meeting room that can be reserved to host your reception! The room has fabulous French doors that open to our tropical pool paradise, and we can even provide tables and chairs for your day to remember.

Our spaces are filling up for the summer months, and with 4th of July right around the corner, we encourage you to give us a call today! Our friendly front desk staff is available from 8 AM to Midnight, 7 days a week.

Port Aransas is a home away from home for a lot of people, but it’s not just a vacation spot.  For many, this is the only home they have ever known. It is where many work to support their families and livelihoods. They have been battling the elements and the effects of the hurricane for over a month now.  There has been a fund set up, that is going directly towards the people and small businesses in need. To donate or apply for assistance, go to www.newdayportafund.com.

Tucked between Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, lies the quaint coastal town, Port Aransas. A vacation destination full of character, known for its world class fishing, multitude of dining options, one of a kind boutiques and galleries, and 18 miles of beautiful beaches, perfect for relaxation. In a place that has a little something for everyone, it’s nearly impossible to not enjoy yourself while you’re here.

A normal day in Port A would show you vacationers walking down the sidewalks, shopping at the different beach stores, golf carts riding up and down the streets, Port A shirts and hats everywhere you look, and a smile on everyone’s faces. There would be no shortage of options for night life fun, and the diverse restaurants would leave you wanting more after every meal. Port A was the spot to take your family and friends for a fun getaway.

All of that changed on the weekend of August 25th. The island had an emergency evacuation, and families were forced to leave their homes to flee from the dangers that Hurricane Harvey could bring. The locals played a waiting game for 6 days wondering how the island held up to the storm, if the businesses were okay, if their homes were still standing. Initially, the people of the island were devastated as they were able to come back to their home. Seaweed, normally found on the shore, had filled the streets, lawns, and buildings. A high number of boats were left in parking lots and fields. Sadly, locations where buildings once stood are now lots filled with debris.

The destruction left behind by Hurricane Harvey was truly devastating. With many homes and resorts uninhabitable, and several local favorites leveled, it’s going to take time to bring our home back to the island it once was. The locals have come together to begin the repairs, and we have no doubt that when the recovery efforts are finished, the island will be better than ever!

Murphy beds are a great way to save space if you are working with minimal square footage. They are functional and discrete because they are hidden, yet quickly accessible. They can be pulled out for a quick and cozy nap, and then easily put away with no hassle. This allows you to have much more space during the day. You don’t have to worry about your mattress slipping and sliding when prepping the bed because the mattress is attached to the base. An even bigger bonus? No box spring necessary!

A Murphy bed can be easily hidden with a nice armoire cover, or a beautiful piece of art. However you decide to decorate, your home will easily be transformed when it’s time to put your bed away. With this factor, you are not compromising your space, but enhancing it!

Avoid tripping or stubbing your toe on a bed that is taking up valuable space! With a Murphy bed, if you aren’t using it, it doesn’t have to be there! This is a huge benefit as it prevents some painful injuries.

Murphy beds are really convenient if you are on vacation with your children! Give your family the space to utilize during the day and easily bring the bed out when it’s time to get some shut eye. A Murphy bed is a great feature for vacationers because you don’t have to search for something with more space! You can easily have a great time and not feel jam packed into a small area. This will allow you to fully relax during your entire stay!

FlipKey, a TripAdvisor company, recently announced that Port Aransas has made their list of the top 10 best vacation destinations for families with children! This ranking was decided based on feedback from visitors of Port Aransas and industry research. Also included in the list were Orlando, Washington D.C., and San Diego.

“Life Rolls On” is a non-profit organization that helps give people that are paraplegic a chance to try surfing or skating. They have an event that travels to different areas to do so, called “They will Surf Again.” This amazing opportunity was brought to Port Aransas on June 10th, 2017. It brought people of all ages out to the beach, and gave them a unique experience to learn how to surf despite the challenges they have dealt with in their lives.

“Life Rolls On” was founded by champion surfer Jesse Billauer, whom a month before he turned pro, had a horrible accident while surfing that left him quadriplegic. It was from this moment that Jesse knew he didn’t want to give up his dream as a professional surfer, but find a way to make it possible to skate and surf for not only himself but others who do not have the means to do so.

The event was held at Horace Caldwell Pier. Everyone was encouraged to enjoy the beach and surf. They also got to witness the inspirational people who went out to learn how to surf and see them overcome so much with smiles on their faces.
